Kickass character. Too bad the brief Devil's Due relaunch bring him back like I hoped. Although, I though his sacrifice in HACK/slash:The Final Revenge of Evil Ernie in order to bring the book's star, Cassie Hack, slasher slayer, back from the dead was a touching end to the character(if he was left dead). Even though the guy murdered his whole world for a warped ideal of love. After I snagged the tradepaperback to the first Evil Ernie story, Youth Gone Wild, I remembered his creator ,Brian Pulido, has wanted to originally develop the character for the silver screen. But studios being studios ,always wanted to tinker with the concept, so Pulido had the original story made into a comic. Reading that book I thought if it had been made into a flick we'd be seeing the start to one HUGE franchise. We could've used a little bit more unapologetic horror during the ninties let tell you.
