All of you out there that have not signed up for the new show are missing the boat. No matter what your skill level is this will help. $20 per month is $.67 per day. Think about it and I will see you on the show's forum. _________________ You can't fix stupid |

Just throwin my 2 cents in regarding the show. It is by far the best value in woodworking out there! Just so happened I had 3 woodworking magazine subscriptions coming due around the time Charles annouced his intention to do a woodworking show. I decided to cancel the magazines and signed up. Pretty sure I will never look back! I've learned more in a couple episodes than a couple year's worth of repeating magazine articles.
Thanks Charles, Sherri and everyone else for sharing.

Brian and all,
I have to agree - just in the first two webisodes, I've learned so much I can't believe it. I'm pretty new to woodworking and really don't have a feel for tackling a project- where is the beginning and what are the steps to take to get to completion - what is the global view and plan. No one around to study with, so Charles is my teacher - right here in my recliner every Thursday - how can ya' beat that? I am so happy that I joined - beats many mag subscriptions all put together, for sure.

My two cents worth.....
I have watched all Charles webisodes so far. I have enjoy them and have learned a few things as well.
Charles show is just a good old down home no frills kind of show. If your looking for a Hollywood production this is not it.
But.... if you are looking for information and help to improve your craftmanship this is the place.
For example one of the shows Charles showed a simple jig to straight line a live edge board on a table saw. And yes I have seen jigs to do the same thing. The difference is the jig was very simple, I mean VERY simple. Not to mention that it can be used for other tasks as well.
There is a benefit that I am not sure has been expressed enough. The forum that is associated with the show.
The opportunity to watch something be built, learn from it and then be able to ask Charles questions and.... also see other people's questions and Charles answers makes this worth the price of admission.
With all that said and maybe I have given more than 2 cents worth
My recommendation is to give it a try for one month.

I also agree that these web-episodes (as he calls them) are one of the best deals out there for anyone that want to really step up the woodworking skills.
I like the fact that he shows you how to design a piece and put your own design elements in it so that you are not stuck to a set of plans. I have been in his shop a few times and one thing I have never seen is a set of plans. Now I know why. Also he shows you everything even if there is an "oops" it is in the show but he shows you how to fix it and move on. One thing he always tells me is that I can't screw anything up that he can't fix and after watching just 3 episodes I starting to think he is right (but I will keep trying).
Like Jerry said just give it a try for 1 month and you won't be sorry. _________________ I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left. |
