Update: See Glenn Bach's post below.
Avid is no longer supporting Avid Free DV. Sept 2007. Rob D.
For Mac OSX Installs
1) Fill out the registration cells on this page:
http://www.avid.com/forms/freeDVRegDownload.asp
Uncheck the "news" requests and press "submit."
2) Select the OS X Operation System that matches your Mac from the pulldown window.
3) Copy the serial and authorizations to a safe place (such as cut and paste them into an email and send it to yourself).
4) After the download is on your computer, double-click on it and it will be automatically installed in your Applications folder.
5) Double-click on the application icon to launch it. Enter the serial and authorization numbers into the request window.
For Window XP Installs
1) Install QuickTime 7.1 (a free plugin) on your PC:

Desten,
The registration page was still available when I sent out my September 6 e-mail suggesting that Film 116 students download AvidFreeDV before it disappeared, which it now has (please note that Rob D's original post was from 2006).
We will talk about other options in class.
