My audio and video seem to be working together fine except for the first 7 seconds of each video the audio stutters. I can make out some of the sounds from my audio clip so it's not just playing jibberish, but sounds like the track is skipping or something. After that the audio plays fine, but those first 7 seconds sound terrible.

Peter, are you still having this problem? It could be a problem with your sound card or with XP. Here are two links to forums with similar problems:

You can also try Quicktime Pro to see if the same problem happens.

Good luck, and keep us posted.

yah, I still have the problem even though I am trying to play the video in Quicktime Pro and exported it again using Quicktime Pro. Would re-doing the audio in audacity and then adding it to the video in Avid and exporting it again do any good?

Peter,

Try this: export the video clip (no audio) from Avid as a web compatible Quicktime .mov clip, as described here: http://tinyurl.com/2vtzmv.

Import into Quicktime Pro. Import your audio into QT, "add to movie," then select all, export, select options, click both video and audio, and save.

If the stutter remains . . . then we'll see what else we can try.

Could be that you don't have enough RAM in your computer. As Glenn suggests, I'd check to see if the sound plays fine in another sound application. Try another sound file in Avid while you're at it. If two sound recordings only skip in Avid, provide your profile/computer platform info http://www.freeforum101.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=48&mforum=06116filmforum and we'll see if anything stands out. Are you using an external drive? Rob D.
