I think he does look like him, but he played him like a little boy and Jimmy although playing teenagers was to me very much an adult man.

I thought he did an amazing job as Jimmy, it is neat too because he was being Jimmy, not miming him as so many imitators do. Also James Franco can hold his own in his own movies, he is a very talented actor I think.

I haven't seen the movie, but from the pics I've seen, he looked a lot like Jimmy in the movie...
I never liked him much as an actor, but I definatelly want t see this movie, he must have had a good performance to win the Golden Globe Razz

I have seen this movie and James Franco gave me goosebumps. It wasn't to do with whether he looked like Jimmy or not, it was the mannerisms and posturing that he got down to a tee. I haven't seen anyone represent Jimmy the way James Franco did. He makes all the others seem like a joke. Rather than play the stereotypical image of James Dean that Joe Public can see, Franco went beyond that to get to the person rather than the star.

I think James Franco is a great actor, and quite under-stated. He did a great job as James Dean, his finest performance I think. I believe he goes to great lengths to get into the characters he plays, and his hard work certainly shows here.

Franco is maybe the only one today who can portray Jimmy the best. No offence, but personally, I don't like him at all...

I think he's sooo different from Jimmy. Jimmy was not a tall guy. James Franco is too tall, he has brown eyes, he doesn't have those expressional eyebrows that made Jimmy the person he was, he shows his teeth way more, he don't manage to hunch his shoulders like Jimmy, and in a tux he looks like Goofy. Except for the hair.. There's so many other things I could lay out, but then I would be sitting here forever.. I just think that, if you're first making a movie about Jimmy Dean, he should at least look like him. In my eyes, he's just not James Dean. No one should ever mess with the original Rolling Eyes

While nobody will ever look EXACTLY like Dean, Franco did an amazing job! You can't really put the guy down for having different eyebrows, he's an actor at the end of the day, not a clone.

I've seen many documentries and movies about Dean down the years, but that is the closest we are ever going to get to a new Dean film.

For me, there were certain scenes where it was almost impossible to tell the difference. The scene where they are on a Ferris wheel filming a scene from Eden stands out the most. Franco had his hair parted the same way as Dean in that movie and during that scene, I gotta say, I had goosebumps!

Besides, if Franco (who pulled off the Dean look 90%) wasn't good enough, who would you have prefered?

Mat Damon?

Brad Pitt?

Casper Van Dien!!!!!! Wink
