He appears to be alive and looking up at one of the people on the road.
Any ideas?

I think that is Rolf Wutherich who was in the car with him.

It was not him, it was his friend who was with him... Jimmy was killed instantaniously at the crash, from what I read.

He didnt die instantly, He was alive when they put him in the ambulance.. I read(Someone, I forgot who it was, Was with him in the back) But they mentioned in one of the books that James was mumbling, Trying to talk.. I will have to look in one of my books and try to find where it is that I read it, But I have always read that he was still alive and was not killed on the scene.. Nonetheless, Its very heartbreaking..

yes that was Rolf Weutherich in the photo on the ground. the whole crash creeps me out. But also yes Jimmy was alive but I believe he had died in Bill's (god I just forgot his last name) arms before the ambulance ever got there.

I think that he might have been alive in that picture, i heard that after the impact James was heavily breathing. I also heard that he had suffered a near decapitation, so he chances of survivng were very slim.

I just bought a James Dean book for 10 dollars. It is all pictures with captions. I like that the book does not disscuss Jimmy's death, it celebrates his career. It doesn't have a picture of the car, which i was relieved to see. People know of him, mostly because of his very tragic death. But i try to forget about that, and remember him as a special actor.
