|It is with very great sadness that we are selling up a Galion, Cottontail.
A 1967 build she is now lying in Ramsgate marine, but having moved to the channel islands last year there is no affordable way to get her here and money is short so she has to go.
Everyone in the owners association knows what great boats these are, if you know of anyone in the market then please let them know.
Throughout 2007 we did loads of work on her, the engine was overhauled as was the starter. The upholstery was all replaced and removable washable covers were added making all 4 berths really comfortable. We also added a sea toilet and fitted shelving to make a sensible galley area, where a single portable stove and 'omnia' stove top oven live. And we added a good Echomax radar reflector, plus LED nav lights.
The engine now needs some more attention (it is an early 80s Vire 7) as it overheats, but the engine itself is in good order.
The jib is in excellent condition but the main needs washing and a bag adding. All the rigging is if useable condition.
The exterior wood is all due for a new coat of varnish, the cabin headlining also needs replacing (the forecabin is done).
We are open to suggestions on asking price from fellow owners, but looking at comparable boats that need some time spent tidying we are thinking of £1,900.
