I was recently searching for Irish related podcasts (basically online radio shows that anyone can make and anyone can subscribe/listen to) and stumbled upon an excellent podcast called the Irish and Celtic Music Podcast. You can find the podcast at http://www.celticmusicpodcast.com/. The Irish & Celtic Music Podcast is a free, bi-monthly, downloadable radio show of independent Irish & Celtic music. The show is hosted by Marc Gunn. Each show is anywhere from just under an hour to 2 hours long and has a vast array of Irish tunes.

To subscribe to the podcast and have each show delievered directly to your computer via the internet as soon as it is published you can download "iTunes" from http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/. Once iTunes has been downloaded and installed you can click on the subscribe button at http://www.celticmusicpodcast.com/ and the get all of the shows that you want. If you have an Ipod you can quickly transfer these shows to the device. If you have another company's mp3 player please ask me and I will help you in trying to get the shows loaded onto you mp3 player.

Please tell me what you all think.

If you enjoy Irish and/or Celtic music I think you will enjoy the podcast.

For those of you who are not MP3 player owners, you can also listen to Traditional and Modern Irish music on your computer at http://liveireland.com/.

Excellent! More places to enjoy Irish music!

Just to clarify my first post here, you can download the podcasts on your computer and listen to them on your computer. The only advantage to the mp3 player is to make the music portable (I have not yet tried to put the podcasts on CD-R's yet but in theory you should be able to be put on a recordable CD just the same as a normal mp3 song).

hey everyone. James, this is great information. I appreciate you sending it.

I don't have the time (or dedicate the time) to download and watch these types of things. so i can't say as i'd use it. for the right crowd, this would be a very nice option.

thanks,
britt

Christmas brought me an mp3 player for the car, so I am eager to tryout these podcasts--many thanks for the great links.

Maybe at some point you or somebody could post links to a site specializing in learning Irish, one that offers podcasts.

Anyway, thanks again.
