Two days ago, while I was freaked out high on all the sugar from my 1/2 price Halloween candy binge, I joined NaNo.
Yes, yes, stupid move, I know, but what can it hurt?
So today I finally caught up with the word count I was supposed to have. I am at 7,121 words today.
Not sure it will last, and the book will proabably suck, but whatever. If i am going to be hiding out in my room not showering, I might as well be doing something moderately productive.

Anyone else doing it?
:)theresa

That's the spirit! Wink

Seriously, I think it's fantastic that you're giving it a shot. And at 8000 words you're already past the murky two to five thousand where a lot of people give up. Also, your novel synopsis is great. You have a witch in charge of global warming. I want to read it! (No pressure there - I'm just saying, it sounds fascinating.)

Eureka indeed, Theresa!!! Smile Smile Smile It's so great to see you again so soon (heh), and I'm so glad you're holing up in your room, not showering. You know what I mean. It is super exciting that you're Nano-ing. Enjoy every bit of it. I will sneak over to your page tonight to read abit about your story--I have to say that from Jen's description, it sounds fantastic!

Thanks guys!
I wrote the synopsis by the seat of my pants [I have to write a synopsis? Ok type type type], and of course, it doesn't really cover it. But I hope the novel will explore a lot of interesting and flawed ways of thinking about our world in a not too obvious way.

I love the name of your novel, Jen Vulpes Vulpes (fox fox, right? You managed to hit one of the words in my negligible repertoire of Latin.) And I love the excerpt and the synopsis sounds like it will also be quite humourous. Lester is my kind of character. Very Happy I am sure I would enjoy this book. If you were to let me read it.
So maybe we can swing a deal after we’re both finished?

I am sorry you others aren’t doing NaNo, but I know you are all working on writing projects anyways, so it is all about the same Smile I am over my word count threshold now [not as far over as Jen, of course Very Happy]. I may even take a shower today. Possibly even shave, if I am feeling wild and crazy.

<3 to all
:)Theresa

PS Jen I love your cat Heraldry! Did you make that yourself? Very cool!

PPS For any perusers, I am Crowsfoot on the NaNo site.

Hooray, I'm glad you're enjoying it Theresa! I think we might be able to swing a deal Smile Though I'm going to keep that in the far back of my mind because this has got to be one of the most scattered and unplanned of any NaNo novel I've attempted! (and it shows.)

You're right, Vulpes is fox Smile Vulpes vulpes is actually the name of the red fox (it gets both names, which I like.) And I wish I'd made the cat heraldry, but believe it or not it's actually the real family crest of the MacGillivray name. Their motto: Touch not this cat! Smile

I love NaNo enthusiasm! You've made me want to write.

Excellent! Go write Smile It will probably all come together. You sub-conscious mind has a plan. It is just being secretive.

My big worry is that I have too much dialogue--well and that it will be simplistic and boring, but those are more about the squirrels in my head Razz I will try to have something novel-like to let you read. Only so I can get my greedy little hands on yours, though Smile

Honestly, I cannot believe "touch not this cat" is a legit motto. That is awesome Very Happy Hopefully the red fox will abide by the motto Wink

Oh dear, you've just given me an idea for later in the book...!

And hey I *love* dialogue. It's one of the best ways to keep it going: put two interesting characters together and see what they have to say.

Oh I am glad to have inspired more ideas--lol not like you had enough of them already, or anything Very Happy

It is also good that you like dialogue. I think it must make 80% of the book so far :O However, I am ignoring that for now, and just continuing to write. I really can't afford to be picky about how my brain decides to churn this out.

Hopefully it won't make anyone's eyes bleed :O

I printed a NaNo novel out on orange paper once. I'm pretty sure I *almost* made Ev's eyes bleed as she was reading it. Cool

But besides that, you're absolutely right. Pickiness is not wanted. Hooray for continuing to write Smile

It's very fun and inspiring to read you Nano guys' back and forths.

And yes, orange. A deep pinky fleshy salmon orange. Laughing Laughing Laughing

(It really wasn't as bad as Jen fears, though I won't entirely disagree with her name, LOL).

p.s. "Touch Not This Cat" is the BEST motto ever. Why don't people have family crests/mottos anymore?

Can I read each of your novels?

LOL Oh hope springs eternal. Smile I know not whether it be charity or delusion that inspires you to bestow the appellation "novel" upon my frantic scrawlings. However, if I actually have a completed "novel" at the end, I might let you read it, too.

This is sort of like saying that I might permit you the pleasure of snapping an elastic band in your own eye. My belief in personal liberty struggles with my desire to protect you from a truly awful experience.

In any case, I am not sure if it will be finished in 50k, and I know how much you hate reading partials. Very Happy [I have been chastised at least 2x for that!] This kind of free-writing for word count produces pretty flabby writing, I reckon. So the story progresses perhaps too slowly to be concluded by month's end. But Jen's just sounds so interesting and potentially funny that I can't resist being selfish and exchanging my crappy little eye-imperiling pulp for a gander at her story. }Smile

What will YOU give me, Ev?

:)theresa
